The following represents a reverse chronology of assignments, positions, and schooling in my career.

Work Experience

Senior Program Manager
Microsoft Corporation, 2013 to Current
Program Manager within Legal and Corporate Affairs (LCA). Focus on design, implementation, and management of the Project Management Office (PMO) for LCA Operations. Oversight of project portfolio including intake processes, project execution, and reporting. Portfolio includes projects for intranet-based legal resources, records management, and contract automation for all of Microsoft as well as collaboration sites for LCA.
  • Provide project governance and guidance on methodology, risk mitigation, and best practices
  • Designe, implement, and maintain processes related to the PMO and project execution that provide guidance and resources to project managers as well as reporting and visibility into project activity to management
  • Design and implement web and SharePoint solutions through user stories, requirements analysis, and functional specifications, which ensure that business needs are met and customer satisfaction is top priority

Manager of Functional Designers for clinical applications. Provide leadership in design methodology best practices for wide range of product modules.
  • Collaborate with customer and Product Manager regarding requirements and perform translation of requirements into system design specifications. Authored designs for Nursing Charting, including medication administration and specimen collection, among others.
  • Coordinate efforts with database specialists, usability experts, developers, testers, implementation personnel, and support specialists. Review and provide feedback on physical design, including database and architecture.
  • Responsible for hiring and career growth of functional designers and assignment of designers to projects.
Program Manager
Microsoft Corporation, 2002 to 2003
Program Manager for HR-IT and LCA-IT.
  • Interface with customer and Product Manager regarding requirements, research technology options for product solutions, and translate requirements into system design options.
  • Develop functional specifications and technical documentation for an Immigration application to track and manage Microsoft’s foreign national employees’ visa processes (Law and Corporate Affairs IT)
  • Interviewed subject matter experts, researched design options, and collected and documented system requirements and functional specifications for data exchange backbone that provides bi-directional transfer of HR financial data via the Internet with 3rd parties. System provides data transformation, archival, notification, and data validation.
Solution Architect
iUniverse, Bellevue, WA, 2000 to 2001
Customer interface and solution development within Enterprise Services division. Seattle office for this dot com was closed due to loss of venture capital.
  • Solution Architect for XML enabled digital publishing solution for Microsoft Corporation. Involvement included research, requirements definition, and specification development for various areas of web development, including e-commerce, infrastructure, digital rights management, user experience, and back-office reporting requirements.
  • Coordinated customer integration efforts across international territories with sales, development, and deployment teams
  • Led cross-continental reengineering of methodologies and processes related to sales consultation and service delivery.
  • Contributed to strategy and business plan of startup unit. Developed strategy with sales and marketing groups on market penetration, segmentation, product definition, and product positioning.
Business Analyst / Project Manager
Matsushita Avionics Systems, Bothell, WA, 1997 to 2000
Contract consultant for automation of processes within Technical Publications, Training, and Multimedia departments. Liaison to MIS for departmental technology requirements.
  • Consulted on electronic document management (EDM), product data management (PDM).
  • Performed process analysis, workflow and Internet requirements definition and subsequent implementation of job management, distributed document management, and reporting applications.
  • Implemented a time tracking application. Obtained metrics on work cycle times and productivity reporting. Developed tools for projection of training resource requirements, which resulted in executive realignment of departmental resources and major productivity gains.
  • Developed and deployed custom Oracle Form applications and Oracle databases which provide robust job control features and knowledge management regarding corporate documentation and products.
Business Analyst
Auto-trol Technology Corporation, Orlando, FL & Irvine, CA
January 1987 to 1993 and August 1995 to 1997
Sales support, analyst and developer for computer graphics, document management, and network management solutions.
  • Performed analysis and specification of software tools related to management of network assets. Gave presentations of both standard product software and custom solutions to customers and prospects for enterprise-level solutions. Advised on document management issues.
  • Application Engineer primarily for Tech Illustrator, publications related software, and architectural packages. Helped grow startup field office to 20-person team. Voted best Systems Engineer by peers and national sales team in 1988.
Technical Program Coordinator
FORMTEK Inc., Orlando, FL, 1993 to 1995
Coordinator and technical resource for document management opportunities within large aerospace and manufacturing firms; majority focus on government programs. Responsibilities included project management and ultimate success of installations.
  • Consulted at Lockheed Fort Worth Company in regard to an enterprise document management system for the F16 and F22 programs.
  • Extensive analysis and consultation at Lockheed Space Operations regarding document and data management, including: version control, file protection, redlining, scanning, quick viewing, and navigation with intelligent files. Performed a funded analysis across 10 directorates for enterprise-level electronic engineering document access requirements for the Shuttle Processing Contract at Kennedy Space Center.
  • Developed proposal for, assisted sales in closing of, and coordinated installation of $1.4 M system at Baltimore Gas & Electric. This program modernized document management of their engineering data.
